But, What Exactly is Baybayin?
Baybayin is an ancient pre-colonial writing system used in the Philippines before Spanish colonization. It is a syllabic script traditionally used by Tagalogs and other Filipino communities to write poetry, personal writings, and communication.
Unlike the modern alphabet, Baybayin characters represent syllables instead of individual letters. The script uses symbols with vowel sounds that can be modified using marks called kudlit.
Today, Baybayin continues to inspire a new generation of Filipinos through art, culture, education, and technology.
